John Stag’s Fourth Letter

Dearest Jane,
I keep running in to those who would be your champion and avenger. When I first set out to discover who did this and to set things right, it was simply because of how I felt from seeing you. I could easily imagine that others felt as I did, and worked as I did. It wasn’t until you came to speak with me that I truly understood. You had picked me, of all those who saw you.
Now, it seems that you called many. Perhaps it is hard to be precise due to your imperfect death. If you were a proper ghost, would you be speaking to me alone, would you be speaking at all?
I’m not a philosopher, so I’ll let those issues lie. I am loyal, however, and expect loyalty. Whatever they think you’ve promised them, they will not get. I know that, because they flail wildly. Sometimes I think you called them merely to distract, as a smoke screen for me to move under. Do they send you letters under this name as well, believing themselves original?
Regardless, I am off to see the editor. He’s the key to the one who did this to you. He speaks endlessly for the one who injured you, calling to complete your death. As if any of what he wants could accomplish that. I was walking, looking for direction, and his rag of a paper blew by me. The world itself leads me to justice.
After the editor, everything will be clear. I know it. The name will be revealed, and I will go to him and win you back. Once he is in the ground, you will no longer have to fear it.
Yours,
John Stag
