The Nightmares Come While I'm Awake

Dearest Jane,

I don't usually write these. I mean, I've never written something like this before. It's just that I saw your picture in the newspaper today and knew that if I didn't write to you I'd never be able to live with myself. You're beautiful in ways that no one I've ever seen is. What happened to you I can't even begin to understand, but I promise you I'll make it right.

People know that I get things done. So, you should know that when I promise this it isn’t like the police who kept saying that they’ll find out who you are and what happened to you. I know you can’t rest until you have justice, and you deserve to rest. It must be hard for you, to be there, like that.

Don’t worry. I’ll make it better.
